Walking weather...

To be perfectly honest, I spent most of the weekend being grumpy and miserable. We all have lingering colds, and a certain five-year-old has really been talking back a lot more than usual. I also missed going out with my oldest friend for her birthday because we were all too sick. Whine fest. By yesterday afternoon we all had had enough whining. It was perfect walking weather, and the creek that rambles along the side of our house was low, so we decided to walk all the way up the creek bed. Aside from a few tricky, prickly spots, it was gorgeous. And look how big these two people are getting...

It took us about an hour to get to the top. Once we did, we cut down an old trail along our neighbor's cornfield and came out on the back side of our poor, janky barn. It would've been easy to come out of those woods, see this beat up old barn and start to feel overwhelmed by our ongoing renovation (and a bank account that doesn't seem to keep up with the projects we want to do). Instead, I sat for a minute and thought about our hopes for this place and for these little people. My conclusion? It's all going to be OK.

what a wonderful walk! You are so lucky to live in such a great place where you don't even have to leave your property to go on an hour long hike!

I love walking weather (great name for it). Sadly, when we've had it around here, our family has been too busy. Now we have a little breathing room and the weather stinks. I'm glad you got to enjoy it.

Remember: ten year plan. Wishing you and your family improved health and some laughter amid your cold-induced grumpiness. =)

What a lovely place to live and a great place to explore for little ones! Your barn looks amazing too.
