Happy Halloween...

Our kiddos wear costumes so often that dressing up on Halloween isn't really a big deal to them. In fact, they regularly ask why people don't dress up more often. I started to make homemade costumes, but these two little people really just wanted to wear store-bought costumes. And I'm totally cool with that (I got Halloween crafting out of my system when I made these). Here are a few costumes they've been sporting around the house lately. Today, Kicky is dressed as a cat. Two days ago she was dressed as Super Mad Spidergirl...

and a few weeks ago they were racing around outside, dressed as Velma and Fred from Scooby Doo (my personal fave)...

Any other crafty peeps experiencing the store-bought costume phase?

I agree that Velma and Fred are awesome, but I have to say, Spidergirl's expression kind of makes that outfit win for me! Very cute!

I, on the other hand have done nothing for Halloween this year. We're in the process of moving house from one country to another so I don't feel guilty about it! But I did make the effort for 'crazy hair day' at school today. O went in sporting what I'd describe as 'early Bjork' feeling a little embarrassed... I spent most of the morning with bed head!

Your kids are way too cute. All the costumes are wonderful, but I agree, the Scooby Doo is the best.

My kiddos prefer to assemble their own costumes, so I just add pieces when I think of or find something - like a new color of cape or a dollar store crown. I did get a request for fairy wings though, so I gotta decide if it is more practical to make or buy...hmmm.

Wow. It's a hard tossup between MadSupergirl and Velma and Fred. I'm going to have to go with the latter, but not an easy decision.

My four year old wanted to be a princess (again) and I suggested that perhaps she could wear one of the millions of princess dresses we already have. To get around this, she insited on a princess dress with a DARK PINK rop and a LIGHT PURPLE bottom (knowing, I think, that I would have to make it.) So, no problem, I found a velvety pink shirt with princessy sleeves at Target and ewed up a voluminous lavendar satin skirt and sash. And then we had creative differences. After much arguing, I finally gave in and did it her way. Later, I realized I was trying to talk her IN to all sorts of embellishments that just would have been more work for me! And you know what? She looks awesome and feels doubly awesome int he dress she designed.

So: win, win.

Too adorable. With the personality showing in these photos, I think both your kids are destined to enter the acting profession!

I thought for a moment that Super Mad Spidergirl was the best photo you've ever posted, then I scrolled down to the one of Kicky and Ez-E together. Wowsa!
