Lilac season...

Spring isn't my season- I'm more of a Fall person- but I do love lilacs! We have three huge lilac trees on our property (and just got two more in the mail), so I'm planning to enjoy my favorite flower this year. There's nothing quite like an old mason jar full of lilacs. I really wish you could smell these. Do tell- what's your favorite flower?

I am partial to tulips myself but your photos just made me miss the lilac bush we had in our front yard at our last house. It smelled divine and the flowers were such a beautiful dark purple.

When my sister and I were young we used to play at being greengrocers and would pick white lilac and pretend they were cauliflowers! Whenever I smell lilac it always takes me straight back to being a young greengrocer in the front garden. My favourite flower is the auricula but I can't grow them, they always die during my care. x

We have three lilac bushes, too! I was wondering if they don't last long after being cut or if I just had a bad batch. They seemed to wilt the next day despite still smelling good. Is this a lilac thing or...just me? ;)

For a fragrant flowering shrub, my favorite is daphne odora!! Tiny white blossoms, heavenly scent. Just a tiny sprig in a bud vase in the house yields the nicest fragrance inside.

I love that lilacs are so hearty. They will grow anywhere, it seems. Those are a lovely specimen, too!

My favorite flower is delphinium!

I LOVE lilacs! I bought three bushes a couple years ago when we put landscaping in, and they've yet to bloom because the deer find them as appealing as I do...take an extra sniff for me, please. = )

I love lilacs, too...takes me back to growing up with several lilac bushes in my yard. We planted 2 in our super skinny bed front bed at our old house. I will have to walk by there and see if they are in bloom yet.

Don't ball jars make the best vases? I love my blue ones! Those are beautiful flowers, too! Jealous! :)

Hydrangeas are my favorite.
With you on spring...my least favorite of the 4 seasons.

OH, I LOVE lilacs! We used to have one [our neighbor did really] that bloomed over our fence. I miss that tree, I'm still not sure why it got cut down. I love our tulip garden, something about those bright pops of color floating tall on slender stems/

I love lilacs, peonies, and dahlias--especially when they have deep, dark, rich colors.

I can almost smell them through the computer! So lovely. We're in the process of buying a house that has 2 big lilac tress in the back!

I can imagine the smell - yum! My favorite flower - hands down - is the daisy. They are friendly and they always make me smile. :-)

Lilacs are for sure my favorite. We just moved into a new place and I have full intentions of blanketing the back in lilacs. I am also a fan of honeysuckles. They remind me of my childhood. Also, peonies are great (my Mom calls them piney's, she's a nutter!)

:)

I love hearing all of your faves! It's given me so many ideas for flowers to plant!

Rachel- mine just started to wilt today. Maybe you should give them another try?

Abbey
