Next project...

We have a plethora of renovation projects left, but I think the barn is the next big project we need to tackle. It needs a new roof, new windows, new electricity, and it needs to be shored up, re-sided, and painted. Yikes. It's already started though! We took down diseased grapevines...

barn renovationand found a building underneath...

barn renovationHere's another before shot from the side. The vines are gone and so is that dog house...

barn renovationThen we moved on to the little white building. We removed the roof and non-functioning overhang, cleaned out the building, and replaced the roof (this is a before shot)...

renovation
A few weeks ago, PRH cleaned out behind the barn (before shot). He took down the vines, took down that fencing, and just generally cleaned it up...

barn renovationHere's another before shot of the back, taken in the Spring. That patchy, leaky roof makes me cringe...

barn renovationSpeaking of cringing, brace yourselves for the interior. Check out those gaping holes in the roof. Yikes. It's all about potential right now though. You're looking at the future game room...

barn renovationPiles of stuff everywhere? Yes. Hello, future workshop...

barn renovationOh, is that you, future studio?

barn renovationThis space, photographed by Paul Brissman, is what I'm imagining for the interior of our barn (found via Sycamore Street Pressvia Desire to Inspire). Yes, really.

interiorThis barn by architect Derek Sanders is our inspiration for the exterior...clean, minimal foliage, black with white trim, and a single red door (image via Derek Sanders).

barn
Is it just me or does this look kind of overwhelming? Another cup of coffee and some sort of 'barn fairy godmother' would be great right about now.

Wow, so much beautiful potential there! Shame about the diseased grapevines but I think you'll be plenty busy without tending to them as well. Also looking forward to your renovations - good luck!

I love how you felt like you needed to label each picture as a "before" shot in case it wasn't obvious. Your renos are amazing so I'm sure we will be able to tell the differenec when your done. God-speed!!!

Wow! What a project! I think it will be amazing, especially since you don't have to live in it and fix it at the same time. What an amazing space to use for creating. Can't wait to see what you guys tackle here.

Barns are so beautiful. Your land reminds me of the book "The Prodigal Summer" by Barbara Kingsolver!

Wow...you know, it's only overwhelming in the beginning! Once you guys get going and get some momentum, perhaps you will feel better about it all! Your ideas are great:)
