Naming the future...

vintage
Besides finding (and subsequently returning) a perfect dog, Kicky and I also found this old slate chalkboard at our local thrift store last week. It's really heavy, so it's sitting on the dining room floor, waiting for a permanent home. That's $5 well spent, my friends. As far as Eero/Buddy goes, the positive thing (besides him happily reuniting with his family) is that we now know how much we enjoyed having a calm, older dog at our house. When the time feels right, I think we'll eventually adopt or try a Golden Retriever Rescue program. An Eero 2 would be nice...or maybe we'll name him after a different mid-century designer. Which name would you go with?

Wonderful that his owners found him, but sad for you! How about Eva (for Eva Zeisel)for the new name?

Great name, Jenn! I love Eva Zeisel's work, so that's perfect! I even like the name Zeisel for a dog. Hmmm...

How about Breuer?

We had our golden, Bruno, until he was just shy of his 15th birthday and he was the best dog I'll ever own. I can't wait to follow along your adopting adventures someday. They really are great dogs!

So sorry for your family to have to go through the back and forth of all this. At least you've seen that an older, wiser, dog would be great in your home.

Can't wait to see where you put the chalkboard.

Awh...so sad that you had to give him back. BUT I'm sure his family was very appreciative. And nice to have a trial dog I guess...did the kids take it rough or understand?

If you cannot find a Golden, we have a Bernese Mountain Dog (now 10 1/2). They are WONDERFUL with children and the elderly. We have trained our dog, Boon, to go to the old folks home in our town and give love.

We named him Boon since he's a big boy and it's also the name of the largest lighthouse in Maine near where we live.

Maybe something that relates to your farm...

Sorry to hear you lost the dog, but so happy for his family that they found him with you and that Buddy had a few nice vacation days away! ;-) Hope you find a great older golden in the future!

I'd go with Alvar, or, conversely, Aalto ;)

ahhh I hope you guys find an amazing dog. Buddy was just a teaser! Kudos to you for adopting a non-puppy. There are so many dogs that need love. Love how you're naming it too. I named Scout after "to kill a mocking bird". I can't wait to name my next pet Boo (Radley).

I think if you get a girl her name should be Kahlo. :)

A massive thumbs up for wanting to adopt from a Golden rescue. We did it 2 years ago and our miss Honey is the light of our lives. Divine dogs. :)
cant help with the name- I'm so terrible at such things so we let our kids pick. Honey isn't exactly original for a Golden!!

That's a gorgeous chalk board. Oh that's both so sad and so happy on returning Eero/Buddy... I think Eames the dog has a certain ring to it though! :)
