Big fun...

closet
Our dear friends, Kris and Tate, came to see us the other day. They both live a few hours away, so this was Tate's first time seeing the farmhouse and Kris's first time seeing it since we started renovations. Our driveway was a total mud-fest and this was the scene in my closet...a pile of cardigans, a line of shoes, and navy blue paint swatches slopped up on the wall. This is the part of EZ E's farmhouse tour where he says, "This is Mommy's dirty closet". Thank you for that reminder, EZ E. This is what the room looked like in August and I've pretty much done nothing (but throw cardigans on the floor) since then. Needless to say, getting this closet cleaned and painted is my project today. Big fun. Please tell me what you're doing today, so I can live vicariously through you.

Not sure you want to live this life today...finish grading, teach seniors about exhibition opportunities and workshops, take a field trip with my print class to my studio and then Dog Town, go back to the studio and clean for a few hours. Going to be a long day! ps, didn't find that print :(

Abbey, I think it is so wonderful for you to have this huge project (challenging and daunting, too)! It may be overwhelming and frustrating at times but it seems everything you touch becomes inspirational! Please, keep up the good work and post as much as you can! Now, off to work (yuck).

I'll be searching through second hand shops for three coffee tables with pretty legs, to make one of those cool coffee table bookcases (cutting the tables in half lengthways and stacking them) - should be fun.

Good luck with the painting!

I am going to finish up a tutorial and post it on my blog--always makes me happy when I do that. Not that it is all that thrilling, really, but, you know. Your closet floor looks like my dresser drawers and the shelves in my closet--in perpetual disarray. Good luck with your closet project.

Full on snowing here in Telluride today. Blizzard conditions and a foot of snow expected. The power was out all over town for about 5 hours today. Since I couldn't really work (I run an NPO), I decided to do some home improvements of my own. My boyfriend just purchase a tiny historic miner's shed here in town. We have been ripping up carpet, painting walls, installing counter-tops, etc. Your farmhouse renovations have been a great source of inspiration. Keep up the great work!
