Support and generosity...

Just prior to last week, I was seriously considering taking a long break from this blog. Some days it's hard to put yourself out there and I had allowed myself to feel really bad about a few negative comments. I was having a rough time trying to work past those issues and thought a blogging hiatus may be restorative. Then came the flood...and with those waters came a reason to be strong, to look past negativity, and to forge ahead. And then you stepped in to help raise over $2000 to help rebuild our town! You've written posts, tweeted, offered goods, posted news on facebook, sent emails, and shared our fundraiser button. Your support and generosity has worked wonders to help soothe sad days and kick this blogger in the head. For that, I can't thank you all enough.

Rebuilding will be a difficult task, particularly when faced with a staggering $100 million in estimated damage to property in our county alone, but I'm confident that people will be creative and continue to work hard to get Owego back on track. Our fundraiser will continue and so will Aesthetic Outburst. Thank you all for everything.

I love your blog. I love the farmhouse stories. I grew up with farmhouses all around. It was always my dream to buy one. Right now it is not in my cards, but I am living my dream through your blog. Thanks. Karen

Never let negative people hurt or upset you. There is something wrong with people like that and I feel sorry for them. I'm glad so many good people have supported your county. :)

I read your blog every day. Like, I wake up in the morning, get a cup of coffee, check my email and THE FIRST website I click on after checking email is ALWAYS yours. I love what you post about - I love your sense of humor, your love of thrifting, your ambitious house renovation stuff - ALL of it.

Long time reader - first time commenter - just wanted to let you know that people that write mean things can go suck eggs.

I'm glad you decided not to stop! It seems to be the negative comments that linger more than the positive ones, and the positive ones always blow away the others. I know it's the same for me. Yours is one of the few blogs I read, so keep posting :)

Please ignore the negative people and their comments...

One thing I learned as a kiddo, if you have nothing positive to say, don't say anything at all.

Those that say rude or critical things are generally jealous...and what goes around comes around. Unfortunately, we have to suffer their negativity.

Please don't give up your awesome blog and your positive and upbeat posts.

Thanks!
Maile

Please don't go! I recently discovered your blog and have found it really keeps me going as I try to finish my dratted PhD after a zillion years while juggling toddler, baby, job, life. Your blog shows such an inpsiring, stylish slice of loveliness, with such warmth and humour. Really reminds that there's more to life than a thesis. Or rather, there's life out the other side! It's also adding very many things to my post-PhD To Do list, in an "Ooh I must try that" kind of way. So, my husband thanks you for that. heh heh. Don't stop blogging! Jen x

Your blog is what inspired me to blog! I'm so glad you're still here. Keep it up and remember all these comments every time you get a silly negative comment. Also, keep in mind that most of those negative commenters are just jealous. You're pretty fabulous and you have a happy life. Thanks for being inspiring!
