Aesthetic spaz...

barn renovation
Let's be honest...some before + afters just aren't very impressive. Case in point? Our barn. You may remember my post last week about getting our barn in shape. Yowzers. PRH and I have spent days (in muck boots and shorts) hacking down diseased grape vines...

barn renovationand, after days and days, this is what we're looking at. To be fair, that pile of vines on the right is gone, but it was too dark to take a photo...

barn renovationLet's take a look at the before shot.

barn renovationThere was an entire building under there! The giant storm windows nailed over the original barn windows? Yeah. The aesthetic spaz in this house is freaking out (yes, that would be me). Those suckers are coming DOWN! Deep breath. I'm trying to keep my eye on the prize.

oh it's going to be so fantastic. i can't wait. if i'm ever near there can i look for the black barn and visit? i'll come with teeshirts that say
"mortgages are dumb but homes rule the school
xoxo abby and abbey"

there will also be hearts on them. clearly i've been thinking a lot about our shirts.

We just did something similar (on a smaller scale), and I feel for you- that is back breaking work! Good job you guys!

Just found your blog not too long ago and have enjoyed following your remodeling progress. We are restoring a century old farmhouse as well and your giant to-do lists have inspired us:) The barn is a diamond in the rough!

Amazing amount of work - but it will all be worth it! And actually just doing these projects is cool journey in itself!

Wow, looks great. Wonder what the deal was with the windows, and I like the railing actually, unless you have room for a porch swing...and then the railing will have to go! and it's kinda cool you have the pile of pictures to go through, that can be your end of day with a glass of something adult beverage. It's going to be so cool when you get "there"!

I stumbled upon your blog today, and I love it! Our family is restoring a farmhouse in upstate NY too. An afternoon of being in my yard, staring at the overgrown jungle-lyness of it all drives me bonkers. Today's post inspired me to get out there and chop.

I stumbled upon your blog today, and I love it. We are gradually restoring a farmhouse in upstate NY too. It is a labor of love, especially considering everything ever done here was done cheaply and incorrectly. Your post today came at a perfect time for me. I spent the afternoon staring at the overgrown "jungle-lyness" of our yard and driving myself bonkers. It never matches how I think it should look. Anyway, your post made me want to get out there and chop.

I am very jealous of your barn. It was something I was hoping to find with the house I fell in love with, but alas the house I fell for did not come with a gorgeous barn. Ah well...I think the idea you have for transforming yours will be gorgeous! enjoying your blog and progress. :)
