Now and then...

At some point this summer we'll be moving and I've been thinking a lot about furniture placement in the farmhouse. I've been comparing photos from our apartment in Buffalo to photos of our current house and it was kind of interesting to see how we live with things now. Before we left Buffalo, we sold a ton of furniture. Well, here we are again with another ton! I'm pretty sure all of these pieces will make the cut when we move to the farmhouse though. The bubble car bed will not.

my favorite cabinet now...
spoon collection
then...
kitchen
wooden chair now...
entry
then...
entry
Eames rocker now...
eames
then...
eames
grubby, but useful red shelf now...
shelf
then...

turquoise cabinet now...
office
then...

Some days I do dream about getting rid of everything and starting over. Do you?

I don't dream about getting rid of everything, but i do dream about getting rid of most things! we have so much crap, it drags me down! your house is always so full of life and love, that's a goal of mine--to get our house to that point.

When we moved from California to Virginia I pretty much did get rid of everything. At least all the furniture. I have replaced the dinning room table & chairs thus far. So I am on the hunt for a fantastic couch, chairs and storage cabinets.

We just recently moved and did that exact thing. We sold or gave away everything except clothing and a few pots and pans. It was really fun starting over and furnishing a new home. Granted, we hated the old stuff (hand-me-downs, which had their place in newly-wed bliss). Your furnishings are awesome though!

Yes...me too. My laptop crashed a couple days ago and I don't really miss much. Of course I still have my desktop :)

Funny, I did the same thing in January - gave my house a makeover by moving existing stuff around. I called it "rearranging the deck chairs." You have such unique pieces - I love the turquoise especially

Yes. I always think about getting rid of everything and starting over. Particularly when I see things at our local junk shops that I want to take home and use, but have absolutely no room for.

Moving into a new place always feels like a fun opportunity to "start fresh." But there's also a part of me that can't get rid of old classics.
ps. That turquoise cabinet is fantastic! Did it come that color or did you paint it??

I'm with Amanda - I'll take those items off your hands, especially the turquoise cabinet! = )

You have great style, in both homes. Lovely pictures.

Totally dream about taking everything out of the house and putting it all back in.

That would be very refreshing.

Or moving, but as long as there was no rush or pressure!

Ah dreams!

gitting RID of my things?!?!? nevah!!

actually, we did a big move [from an acre and a half] to a bungalow in a historic district.....ten pouns of potatoes into a five-pound bag!

my things give me pleasure every day, which passes the old test to keep nothing which does not make you happy....also, it's why I could never be an antiques dealer....it would be impossible to sell anything!

all best, from Judy in Ft Worth
