Weekend from hell...

This weekend was awful. EZ E and Kicky have both had colds for about a week, but on Friday night Kicky's cold escalated. She was up all night, feverish and coughing (hacking would be a better word for it). We headed into the pediatrician on Saturday morning where she was diagnosed with croup. We spent the rest of the day resting but Saturday night was horrible. Kicky was struggling to breath and flailing around, so I raced her to the emergency room, a visit that lasted well into Sunday morning. They sent us home and, again, she seemed OK during the day yesterday, but then last night, you guessed it...another trip to the ER. She seems to be doing much better now; no trouble breathing, very little coughing, and she's actually playing. Needless to say, this Barbie (Kicky's favorite toy) very accurately represents how PRH and I feel and look. We're frazzled, tired, and still a bit freaked out. I'm taking the rest of the day off and will see you again tomorrow.

sick kids and multiple trips to the E.R. are the worst - glad it all turned out okay. rest up!

we went through the same thing a few months ago. the nurses at Children's Hospital ER said the best thing is to go outside in the cool night air (hard to do in summer) or a steamy bathroom. and apparently kids over the age of 7 don't get it so there's that to look forward to. hope you get some rest and everyone is better soon.

Aww, poor baby one. I'm glad she's feeling better. Oh, and that busted Barbie? Hilarious.

we have had atleast a dozen experiences with croup starting from when my daughter was 6 months old. it always sounds so much more terrifying and grave than it really is. you think your child has just contracted a rare and fatal disease! fortunately, the croupy sounding hack is the worst of it and they do get better. i hope you are all recovering from a scary weekend!

I'm so sorry to hear that; the ER is the worst! I hope you are all on the mend.
