Making the switch...

I was perusing anthropologie's lighting section and came across a few fixtures that I really love. I've been on the search for "CFL-friendly" lighting and these appear (with the exception of the top image) to do the trick. Have you switched to CFLs? I hate the color, but...

We have not replaced incandescent bulbs with CFLs in most fixtures in our home because I like to use 3-way bulbs in our living room lamps, and we have dimmers in the bedroom and dining room (CFLs don't work on dimmers).

CFLs are only energy efficient when used for long periods of time. turning the bulb off and on frequently -in a bathroom for example- actually burns the bulb out quicker. also it contains small amounts of mercury. if you look more into it, the CFL isn't very environmentally friendly at all.

I didn't know that CFLs don't work with dimmers and I also didn't know about the lack of energy efficiency. Thanks for the info. I need to do some more research.
