This weekend...

What do you all have planned for the weekend? Perhaps laying in a field full of these amazing lights by Bruce Munro? I suspected as much. We're meeting up with our very dear friends (who we miss SO much) on Saturday and I am super excited. Have a great weekend and I'll see you all on Monday!

She really likes it...

This chandelier that I found via House Beautiful is not something that I'd normally like, but there's something about those turquoise and green beads that I'm loving. Isn't it funny when that happens?

Score...

I found a baby Bertoia at the thrift store today! Wooo hoooo! The one we found is black with a red cushion. I'll take photos soon. I love thrift stores!

For real...

How fabulous is this rug?! The credits* said that it's from Hable Construction but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Does anyone know for sure?
UPDATE: Many thanks to Angela of SeeSaw Designs for providing more info about this gorgeous rug. It was designed by Hable Construction for Elson&Company.

Inspired...

An artist named James contacted me yesterday to share a painting he made based on a vintage squeaky toy I had collected. I love it! Here's the original squeaky toy (above) and here is James's painting...

You can see more of his work here. Thanks, James!

Collected...

I tend to think that virtually everything looks better under a glass cloche or in a jar. Such is the case with these matchbooks found via white & wander. Contained collections...aahhhhhhhhh...an organizers dream.

Displayed...

Please Sir wrote a great post about product display a while ago. Definitely something to check out. This post and this post are also awesome. That blog just rules.

Different version...

On to braids of a different sort. I've always wanted to make a braided rug. Have any of you made one before? Any advice?

Braided...

I've taken to wearing braids lately...actually a single braid to get my grown-out bangs out of my face. Our friend Shanna (who regularly wears her hair in beautiful braids) posted something about this flickr group a while ago and it's inspired me to try a variety of braids. My favorite contributer is definitely graceful lady. Isn't her hair perfect? I especially love the top photo with the layered braids.

Classic...

Did you happen to see this bed in the latest issue of Martha Stewart magazine (the actual magazine has a better photo). I'm not usually a fan of bamboo or faux bamboo, but I love the classic lines of this bed.

Wedding envy...

I've quickly become obsessed with a blog called green wedding shoes. This wedding looks SO amazing. That trellis?! Oh my word! PRH and I may already be married, but this blog makes me wish we could get married all over again...and that's saying a lot because we eloped!

Super hero...

I have never won anything in my entire life. Ever. A few weeks ago I entered a contest hosted by my favorite Buffalo shop, Hero Design Studio, and I won an Eames hang-it-all rack! How awesome is that?! I've always wanted one and can't wait to decide where to hang the hang-it-all. Thanks, Hero!

Wooden wonder...

Check out this beautiful wood table by Michael Arras.

Boating...

I've been thinking about Martin Puryear because of the wooden boat show we went to this weekend. We packed a picnic, loaded EZ E in the car, and headed to a gorgeous little town called Skaneateles. We took a ton of photos...mostly of boat ribs. They were just incredible! I could certainly get used to being a wooden boat owner.

I'd like to know...

Today is Monday, so that means it's time for I'd like to know, a weekly post dedicated to talented artists, designers, etc...all people I'd like to know and who I thought you may like to know of too. Today I'd like to know...Martin Puryear. I've loved his work for a long time...it's even better in person. You can read more about him here or here. Happy Monday!

Happy weekend...

I'm looking forward to this weekend. We're headed to an old-timey country auction, the farmers market, and to a wooden boat show. My dad goes to the boat show every year and is really excited to take EZ E. What do you all have lined up for the weekend? Maybe something fun that requires fancy green shoes and stockings? I hope so!

Awesome part two...

Photographer James Merrell is awesome. So is this room.

So good...

Don't you just love Julia Pott's work? You can see more here.

Happy days...

How cute are these rainbow sculptures by PearsonMaron? It would look great in a nursery or even on your desk at work to cheer things up a bit.

Dancing baby...

We've had the perfect upstate NY week so far this week. We had a bonfire, caught fireflies, spent time with friends on Cayuga Lake, and then went to an outdoor concert last night. I knew EZ E had some serious dance moves, but whoa! He said, "I'm a dancing baby, mama!" and boy was he right. Weird Grateful Dead cover band + EZ E=too funny! I love weeks like this one.

Collected...

I would never have thought to collect paper bags, but Siepsfabriek's paper bag collection* is quite lovely, isn't it? The equally lovely candy bags below belong to Elisabeth Dunker of fine little day. Who knew candy bags could be so pretty?

Shades...

Now that Domino has closed it's doors I've been trying to find a replacement magazine...you know, the kind that you look at a million times and save in a "little" magazine stash. I think Living Etc is the one. This tour of photographer Paul Massey's home is stunning. I sometimes wish I could live in a house decorated primarily in white. Check out more images here. What do you think...could you (or do you) live in a house primarily decorated in shades of white?

Genius...

A great photo from Lisa Congdon whose work and photostream are both amazing. Swoon!

Playing house...

I thought I'd start out this morning with a little concoction of my dream furniture/housewares. Here are the details: couch by Marks & Spencer, print by Bold & Noble, light via Design Within Reach, rug by anthropologie, chair by Blu Dot for Urban Outiftters.

Studio inspiration...

Thought you'd like to see some of the photos I've been looking to for studio inspiration. This space is still my favorite, but these are all pretty amazing too. The photo above is from dottie angel and the images below are from castanet...

Coming soon...

Isn't this a great idea? I think I may steal it for the studio...photos hopefully coming soon! I found this photo via ooh_food's amazing photostream. The flickr obsession continues.

Lighting...

Loving these lights from Design Within Reach.

Herringbone...

When we own a house someday I'd love to have herringbone floors. A quick perusal of flickr produced some great examples. The photos above are by Per Ranung (whose work I found via doorsixteen's photostream). The images below are from Loft in Translation...

Better than flowers...

Take a look at these gorgeous vases from Ryan Takaba. A few of these grouped on a wall would be stunning.
