Campfire weekend...

I saw this awesome little campfire set on design*sponge a couple of weeks ago and contacted Swink about purchasing one. It just came in the mail and I love, love, love it! It's even better in person than I would have expected. Check out Swink's website here and Studio on Fire here (the folks who printed it) and have a great weekend!

It's no secret that I love bundt pans. Here are a couple of other people who do too! The image above is from a site called MyHomeIdeas (thanks for the link, Abbey N.!). The bottom image is from a recent issue of Martha Stewart Living. It's the office of her collecting editior, Fritz Karch. Awesome, right?

Hello, lady...

Emily Darnell is the talented person behind the paper punch collection that I posted last week. I'm a bit obsessed with her website. She worked as a display coordinator at Anthropologie and these are some of the displays that were on her site. I've heard that this is a difficult job, but I still think it would be awesome. I highly recommend taking a look at Emily Darnell's website...it's awesome too.

Sun and sand...

I don't remember how I came across this collection of images from the State Library of New South Wales, but they're fantastic! I'm SO ready for summer. I'm looking forward to taking long, rambling walks, going to the beach, hearing the icecream truck, and watching EZ E splash in his baby pool. My best friend and her husband are expecting their first baby in the beginning of the summer and I'm also super excited to meet her. She's going to be amazing.

I'd like to know...

Today is Monday, so that means it's time for I'd like to know, a weekly post dedicated to talented artists, designers, etc...all people I'd like to know and who I thought you may like to know of too. Today I'd like to know...Mark Jenkins. I think his tape sculptures (pictured above) are incredibly clever and interesting. I'd love to encounter one on the street, wouldn't you?

Collected...

Kindra, from the blog Kinda is here, mentioned a long time ago that she contributed some images of her collections to a magazine called O.K. Collections. It's taken me forever, but I finally checked out the site and fell in love with some of the collections. The image above is a collection of little things left behind from the holes in packaging...you know, where you hang the boxes in stores. So unexpectedly lovely. The photo below came from a blog called david the designer. A fellow bread tag collector?! Yes!

Books and the ick...

EZ E and I are both sick, so please excuse the light posting around here. I'm also working on a book and thought I'd share a couple of tentative page spreads. The top image is a buffed wall in Buffalo next to a little text piece I made. The bottom is a shot from my studio with another text piece and the lady on the right is Elizabeth Cady Stanton cut out of a security envelope (click to see details). See you later today!

ABC...

I saw this fabric poster by Erin Jang on Ohdeedoh the other day and it's inspired me to make an alphabet quilt. I'm going to round up my fabric and get started this week. I'll keep you all posted!

I'd like to know...

Yesterday was PRH's birthday. It felt like a really long weekend, so we took a much-needed partial day off. :) Here is yesterday's I'd like to know post. Nancy Friedemann is this week's artist. Not only are these gorgeous, but they're HUGE! I'm not usually a lace and flowers kind of girl, but I can't get enough of these! Be sure to take a look at her website to see more. See you later today.

Text-based...

PRH, EZ E, and I are getting ready for a visit from my in-laws this weekend. I'm going to try to relax and not let myself freak out about thesis stuff this weekend (good luck with that, right?). Anyways, I've been looking at a lot of artists who incorporate text in their work and thought I'd share two of my favorites. The images above are by Cy Twombly and the images below are by Margaret Kilgallen. Have a great weekend and a happy valentine's day! XO from me.

Check out this vintage coaster collection from flickr user sell!sell!. My best friend has been collecting coasters for a long time and I wish I could find some like these to add to her collection.

*Found via Hero.

The fever...

...Spring fever, that is. I was going through our photos from last summer and they're making me itch for Spring. Too bad it's supposed to snow 4 inches tomorrow. Blast!

Thesis...

I've been really caught up in finishing my thesis work lately and thought I'd share a few things I've been making. I made these pieces using puff paint on old graph paper. They're based on traditional canvas patterns. I probably won't use them for the actual thesis exhibition, but I think they're kind of funny and weird...and totally obsessive. I may make them into prints for my shop. Click on them to make them larger.

I'd like to know...

Today is Monday, so that means it's time for I'd like to know, a weekly post dedicated to talented artists, designers, etc...all people I'd like to know and who I thought you may like to know of too. Today I'd like to know...Peter Byrne. Our friend Tim recently curated an exhibition that included Byrne's work and we loved it. I'm a sucker for obsessive mark-making. :) You can see more of it here and check out more info about the show here.

Message received...

I'm sure you've all seen this awesome project, but I don't think I've ever posted anything about it here and I love it. The extraordinarily talented couple behind the something's hiding here blog and shop made this sign for the window of an anthropologie. The messages changed based on the comments they received. These are two of my favorites. You can see more messages and read more about the project here. Have a great weekend!

Collected...

I'm loving these panoramic vintage photos. I can't remember where I found this image*, but this seems like such a "grown-up" collection. Sometimes I feel like some of my collections (and our decor in general) are remnants of my early college days. These vintage photos somehow seem more sophisticated. You can find your own here. Also, if you're interested in photo displays, take a look at this lovely post on simple song.

*(I thought it may have come from Automatism, but I'm not sure. If you know where it came from, please let me know.)

3D type...

I'm obsessing over 3-dimensional type today. The image above is by Pixelgarten. The images below are from Nick van Woert...

New color...

My parents are thinking about re-painting their dining room and I've been trying to convince them to go with grey. I've been hunting for inspiration photos that they'd like and thought I'd share a couple with you too. The images above are from remodelista and the photo below is from a design*sponge sneak peek. I'm loving this grey/green/white combo. Their house is pretty eclectic so I think they could get away with it. Come on, mom and dad...a little before and after?

I'd like to know...

Today is Monday, so that means it's time for I'd like to know, a weekly post dedicated to talented artists, designers, etc...all people I'd like to know and who I thought you may like to know of too. Today I'd like to know...Fanette Mellier. I saw some of her work on Tas-ka and have been thinking about it and thinking about it. Winter has been getting me down lately, but these are certainly cheering me up. It's sunny and bright today...still not warm, but I'll take what I can get. Check out more of Fanette Mellier's work here and have a nice day!

Adios...

Not only am I SUPER sad that domino is closing it's doors, but I'm also annoyed. I *just* uploaded all of my images to their deco file site the week before last and deleted them off of our laptop (which made PRH so very happy). Now I'm going through 752 (yes, seven hundred fifty two) images and trying to save them back to the laptop before they shut down the site. Arrrgggghhhhh! On a less annoyed note, I love this image that I saved from simple song. I would never have thought to stack chalkboards that way. Our ceilings are too low, but someday...
