This weekend...

What do you have lined up for this weekend? We're headed to an auction tonight and are having a big Italian family dinner on Sunday. I'd also like to find something good to read. Has anyone read anything good lately? Have a great weekend!

"The Elegance of the Hedgehog" by Muriel Barbery. I was sad to have finished it! Will definitely read it again.

And also "Bluebeard" by Kurt Vonnegut. A repeat read.

Right now am reading "The Comedians" by Graham Greene. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Oh I recently read the "Elegance of the Hedgehog" too, it was lovely and wonderful.

I just picked up Muriel Barbery's "Gourmet Rhapsody."

I'm also working on "My Life In France" by Julia Child.

have you read The House on First Street by Julia Reed? a great read about building a home with the help of eccentric people and then rebuilding after katrina. it's almost ubiquitous now but if you haven't read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society you're missing one of my recent favs. see you in rochester.

I'm going to have a book read-a-long on my blog this week - you should join us! I'm not sure what book just yet. I think I will go up to my library and choose a selection and then have everyone vote on which on to read. Join us!

I am reading Anna Karenina by Tolstoy for the third time this year.

"Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."

A great study of happy vs. unhappy social groups...husband/wife, labor/employer, government/tax payer

etc.

I also liked Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. by Johnathan Safran Foer. Very moving.

Thanks so much, everyone! I have a great list now. We didn't get anything at the auction, which I suppose is just as well. :)
