Describing color...

We're having our couch reupholstered this week and I was trying to describe the fabric I wanted to the upholsterer. I said 'heather grey' and the guy was like, "heather?". Then I said, "a tweedy sort of grey...sort of like a man's suit material", and he still didn't get it. I'm going to just show him this photo but, just out of curiosity, how would you describe the color of this couch?

:) I second your statement, Laurie! And, Jim...you're just too damn poetic, but I suppose that's why we all adore you.

I'm in love with Divina Melange

It has a felt-like texture, very hip and easy to live with.

Gray flannel?

It's Heather Grey. If someone reupolstering did not know that, I might consider someone else for fear that I would get something completely wrong. But I'm guessing you approve of the fabric prior to work being done so maybe it isn't a big deal. Um, maybe flecked charcoal grey? I don't know Heather Grey seems a pretty standard description.

Yeah... that grey is defs heather grey. If the upholsterer doesn't know what heather grey is I'd be a little worried. Unless English was his second language. But other than that, he should know.

You're all totally right. I went with someone else...someone who knew immediately what I was talking about. Wish me luck! :)

Heather Gray seems pretty spot on to me.

Since the upholsterer sounds sort of a cluless in a guy sort of way, I'd say it's like a grey gym sweatshirt color.
