The big reveal...

Here he is! Our little owl! Unlike the shark costume from last year, EZ E was quick to try on this costume and ran around the house saying, "I'm flying! I'm flying!". I knew he wouldn't wear a mask like Martha's (directions for that mask are in Martha Stewart Living this month), so I decided that a hat and cape would be the best route. It's wool felt and I didn't use a pattern, but it was an easy costume to make. I think he looks really cute and I'm relieved that I finished it before Halloween and before his baby sister arrives. What do you think?

*I also uploaded a shot to Martha's website

Oh so cute! I was thinking I should try to make a costume this year instead of buying one but my sewing skills are very rusty. I'm very impressed you did this without a pattern!

Too adorable! 'Reminds me of my son's joy at wearing a Lillian Vernon parrot costume when he was about that age! I'm glad he likes it and he'll have a lot of fun with it even after Halloween!

A-MAZING. I'm in love. And though I'm sure I could come no where near the quality of yours...I'd love to make one for my little hoot. I'm curious if you'd consider sharing the pattern, or at least a shot of it flat for me to replicate? Am I pushing it?

I didn't use/make a pattern but tomorrow I can post the sketch I made, which may give you a better idea of how the costume came together.

Do you have the pattern you used for this? I found your blog on a google search.
