Craziness...

I've mentioned Lauren Nassef's amazing work here before and read this very sad post on Book By Its Cover yesterday. A graduate student in the UK has been completely copying Nassef's work and taking credit for it! She even won an award for someone else's designs! You have to check this out. Crazy.

I once caught someone ripping off Amy Butler patterns. The offender was giving away free desktop wallpaper made from Amy Butler's work. But they wanted a CREDIT AND A LINK on your website if you used them... hysterical. I called Amy Butler's studio spoke to someone in person and the ripped off wallpapers came down. The Bernie Madoff's of the design world have no shame :)

You're exactly right-these people have no shame. Kudos to you for calling Amy Butler's studio. Apparently this girl has been ripping off other artists as well. SO pathetic.

it's one thing to appropriate, but this really is ridiculous. I am happy to see so many people speaking on this subject from the original article. thanks for posting this!

It amazes me how much time is spent in the process of committing plagiarism, when that time could instead be used doing something original, not to mention the actual hard work. I make art for the satisfaction challenge I get from it, and I cannot imagine how blatantly ripping someone else off could be remotely satisfying.

Every month I sit down and do multiple key word searches on Google and Yahoo to look for images of my work. So far I've been lucky that every image of my work found on another site has been properly used - citing me and linking to my work. It's a risk you take putting your art online, even when you copyright your images. Many people just flat out ignore copyrights.
