Shades...

Now that Domino has closed it's doors I've been trying to find a replacement magazine...you know, the kind that you look at a million times and save in a "little" magazine stash. I think Living Etc is the one. This tour of photographer Paul Massey's home is stunning. I sometimes wish I could live in a house decorated primarily in white. Check out more images here. What do you think...could you (or do you) live in a house primarily decorated in shades of white?

No freaking way.

I love color. I NEED color.

Right now we are still in the process of repainting the walls of our house that we moved into January a year ago. I like to call it the pottery barn experiment as all the walls were shades of beige and they had huge leather furniture in each room. It drove me nuts trying to find the shades they used but I did it. To me- they all look beige with the exception of the living/dining area which were a little more yellow. But I came to discover, there was actually 6 different shades of beige in the house!

Now one yellow beige wall has been painted carrot orange in the living room. I love it.

And after all that- I'd rather white all over than beige-ish all over.

I love the way white houses look, so clean and minimal, but I could never live in one. I like having pops of color, sometime more than pops.

It's soo lovely but I couldn't for the same reason as I can't wear white. Way too much of a slob! It's a shame, white wooden floors are perfection.

Even though I am not a white-decor person, that second pic is really a nice scene!

I think the look is attractive, but it's just not me. Also, I couldn't pull it off, since our house has dark stained woodwork, as opposed to painted.

That being said, the thing I loved most about your old apartment, was it's quirkiness and great use of color. Not to mention, you also had unpainted woodwork, but succeeded at making a warm, modern home -- which I am still struggling to do.

As hip, and calm-looking as an all- white room/home is, it always seems that there is just something missing...

I agree with all of you. And thanks, Vicki, for the kind words. :)
