My mom is an amazing smocker, and I used to sew with her. It's SUPER easy, but you need someone to set up the pleats for you, or get a machine that will do it.
My grandmother hand smocked all my father's "gowns" -- he'll be 80 this year, all the boys wore gowns back then. They're so beautiful. There's no way I'd ever attempt it -- I know I'd never hold up to the family standard. Fortunately, I have all of Dad's old gowns to pass on to my kiddos.
oooooh i like. :)
saw those somewhere before and forgot about them. thanks for the reminder!
a bit time consuming, and very exacting, but I know of people locally who carry the supplies and have classes: Threads of Time, in the northtown plaza... I used to work with them.
