My friend Naomi gave a presentation recently and included artwork by Stuart Haygarth. I loved his work and didn't realize at the time that I had already seen a couple of his pieces floating around blogland. The piece above is called Tide Mark and "is a collection of primarily plastic objects categorized by colour. Starting with white objects and ending with black, a kind of tide mark through the colour spectrum is produced". The Millennium Chandelier (below) is "made of 1000 exploded Party Poppers collected ( on 01.01.00 ) after the Millennium celebrations in London".
My personal favorite (below), called Shadey Family, "is a linear chandelier created from a selection of found glass lamp shades. Solely each shade is not particularly eye catching but when grouped together in a unit they become harmonious and beautiful. This project is about re-cycling unwanted and discarded lampshades and reconfiguring them to create a stunning light".
I would love a light like this above our dining room table. I think it's time to start collecting shades!
